Some Things are Fated

I'm not sure, but I think this is the first published book written by Tara Wentz. If it is, then great - because I love to see new authors in this genre... especially when they're this good. Not generally a fan of "thrillers," I waited a while after the book arrived before I started reading. Now I'm wishing I hadn't put it off so long. The author writes with an amazingly mature style and does a great job balancing the "thriller" with the "romance" between the two protagonists. She introduces police officer Ryan Thomas who meets radiologist Tobi Drexler during a routine traffic stop. An immediate attraction leads them toward romance. However, their budding relationship is threatened by an outside force that may be too much for these strong women to overcome. The ensuing investigation and struggle for their lives pulls them closer together and pulls the reader in with every new page. What makes it even better is the author is able to maintain the suspense (i.e., who is the bad guy) until near the end of the book. With great characters and a compelling story, this reader is certainly looking forward to future books from this promising new author.

Intriguing premise for a romance novel. Never quite sure what was to in the characters' thoughts. Kept me interested to see where the characters were heading.

Good book, especially as a first title.

This book is listed as a "romantic thriller". It is a lesbian romance novel. There is a bit of a mystery involved. No, it's not likely that anything in this book is a great surprise but overall it kept me reading, the characters were believable and likeable and the writing was well done. I did finish the whole book and found it to be an enjoyable read. No, there's not going to be any great intellectual puzzles but if you're looking for a bit of escapist fiction, I don't think this book will let you down. Overall, an author I'd be happy to see more from.
