In Kinshasa, traffic jams are a major challenge to mobility, with significant impacts on the urban economy, road safety and citizens' quality of life. The constant saturation of the road network has significant repercussions on those who use public transport and on professionals who depend on their daily travel. The study is based on an integrated approach combining documentary analysis, local data (such as traffic, transport costs and fuel consumption), field observations and interviews with users and players in the transport sector. Road congestion leads to long delays, higher fuel consumption and fewer public transport journeys. Among the causes identified are inadequate and deteriorating road infrastructure, poor traffic control, rapid growth in the number of cars and unplanned occupation of the roadway.
