The book "The 100 Year Marathon" and similar books make you feel better via dumb nationalism. It is good for those who always put the blame on others but not on themselves. The trade deficit is not a Chinese problem but ours. If we do not know our problems, how can we fix them? I propose solutions on how to fix our problems in this book. Sometimes the news reported by the media needs to be further evaluated. The recent example is Bolivia's uprising. We are using different standards for different countries to support our policy. The U.S. (which has far lower human rights index than Hong Kong) passed Hong Kong Human Right & Democracy Act. Should China pass a similar act on our citizens shooting at each other? There are pro-Chinese views and Chinese bashers. I hope my book is in the middle. I try to seek out facts and express them together with my opinions. I hope you can see both sides of a story instead of only from the U.S. viewpoint. This is the main purpose of this book. I also include many unbiased links such as from BBC and DW. There are so many gray areas today that no one can claim s/he is always right. I have nothing against U.S. From the research of this book, I found out several incidents that harm our image, reputation and our future.I was born in Hong Kong and U.S. is my adopted country. My yellow face 'betrayed' me, but I am proud to be a Chinese American. I am naturally biased. Hence, do not be offended if I go too far to defend China. This trade war and any conflict with China hurt me. I bet we will have a long trade war with China. China is biting the bullet. The short term does not look good for China but the long term is rosier for China. Investors may be able to profit from the ups and downs of this trade war.The trade war is not beneficial to both China and the U.S. Hence, hopefully there could be a settlement with China satisfying our terms. However, the damages have been done and China will be better preparing for the next trade war with us. The high debts and the pandemic (many publishers do not allow to use the 'C word') are making the situation worse for China. The virus also shows how we depend on China in medical supplies and active drug ingredients. We have trade wars with many countries including EU, Japan and even Mexico. Except Japan, Canada and Mexico, many of our allies eventually would side with China for their own benefits. Russia would trade more with China and could be a military ally. Most likely for luck but with good reasons, I predicted correctly that a disaster would happen in China as reported in August, 2019 in my article "Disasters in 2020" that is included in this book. I also include the pandemic that could affect the trade war and the other root causes of this trade war.To conclude, China would suffer more than us in this trade war at least initially. We would drive China to side with Russia and Iran and make European countries to take side with us or China. There would be a global recession if the trade war between the two largest economies continues. The trade war is not trade only, but deciding who will be on top for decades to come.
