Watch out, Tracy's got new wheels and a license to come after you.
"Is that a cat?" Tessa asked, bemused. I lifted the cat closer to her.
"Yes. I'm taking her back to her owner. She's pregnant."
She ran a hand down her belly. "I'm not an expert on cat pregnancies, but I'd say she's ready to pop."
My eyes grew large. "I'd better hurry, then."
After a year as an apprentice P.I., it has come time for Tracy to take the exam to become a licensed investigator. Problem is, exams aren't exactly her strong suit. She's going to need something more than a promise of a new car to survive the ordeal.
Her problems are put to a perspective though, when she and Jackson find a body of a fellow P.I. Was he killed by the person he was tailing, a man working for a very familiar mafioso? Or was it the insurance fraudster Tracy's been tracking on the same street? In which case, will she be next?
As the suspects start to mound, Tracy is left to wonder, just how many people can have secrets worth killing for on one small street. Or what to do with the very pregnant stray cat she keeps running into? And most importantly, will she finally become licensed to P.I.?
