Tractate on the Nativity of Our Lord

By Thomas of Edessa

This work by the Edessan father discusses the celebration of the Nativity of Christ, highlighting that the feast is not solely about the miraculous nature of His virgin birth, but rather the fulfillment of divine promises and the significance of Christ as the Savior. It contrasts the Nativity of Christ with other biblical figures, such as Isaac and Adam, to illustrate that the Church celebrates this event for its profound spiritual implications. The gifts presented by the Magi and the angel's announcement to the shepherds further emphasize the importance of Christ's role in salvation and the fulfillment of God's promises.
