Toy Spaniels - A Complete Anthology of the Breeds

By Various

Book Overview

Devoted, silken-eared, and bred for the lap and the drawing room, these little court dogs have charmed royal palaces and cottage firesides alike. This anthology gathers vintage writing on the companion spaniels and their long history.

Toy Spaniels - A Complete Anthology of the Breeds brings together essays, breed notes, and period accounts of the King Charles, Blenheim, Prince Charles, and Ruby spaniels and their Continental cousins, drawn from scarce antiquarian sources. It follows these small companions from the courts of the Stuarts to the modern show bench, tracing their character, their points, and the fanciers who cherished them.
