Toy H-U-S-H: Return Pending

By Gideon Vey

The catalog should not have known where Nora lived.

Twenty-two years after the Long Playtime destroyed TOY H-U-S-H's flagship store, Nora Vossane finally has her missing brother back. But Eli did not return unchanged-and Merrivault Toy Company has already classified him as opened merchandise awaiting collection.

When an impossible catalog maps a route from Nora's apartment to a regional receiving warehouse, the past begins moving again. Whispering toys appear outside locked doors. Receipts print from machines with no power. A transport order names Eli as an unresolved return. Then the warehouse activates.

To keep her brother from being reclaimed, Nora must enter the hidden distribution system that carried Merrivault's secrets far beyond the abandoned store. Inside, colored routes rewrite themselves, employees are replaced by copies, and sealed quarantine cages hold toys that remember every child who ever touched them. Somewhere in the machinery lies the original manifest-the only record of what truly escaped the flagship and where it was sent.

But the warehouse does not recognize people. It recognizes inventory. And once Nora steps onto its route, it begins deciding what each of them is worth, where they belong, and whether any of them are permitted to leave.

Return Pending is the second novel in the TOY H-U-S-H series, a dark supernatural horror saga of haunted toys, stolen memories, corporate secrets, and a childhood nightmare that was never contained.
