Do any of these statements sound familiar? It's likely that you've encountered at least one of them from a well-meaning friend or pastel-hued social media meme. They value happiness more than sadness.
Some people never seem to have a bad day. No matter what goes wrong in their lives, they're always cheerful and optimistic.

Generally, people don't enjoy feeling distressed or down, and it's natural to hope for happiness and success.
In reality, though, life is a complex blend of experiences.
