This work seeks to review and discuss what details the Bible provides as well as consider extra biblical history and facts concerning the diet and health of the ancients. There is a startling contrast between the modern diets in the civilized world when compared to the one of antiquity. This writing does not seek to unlock or discover some unknown mystery or fountain of youth. Rather, this writing seeks to persuade a healthy lifestyle possibly resulting in a longer and healthier life within the constraints of what is humanly possible for the present day. Another goal of this writing is to bring to the reader's attention and cause them to think and consider their eating habits (diet) and lifestyle as it relates to healthy living as experienced by the people in antiquity. The fad diets that seem to prevail in our day can be cast aside and we need to heed the Word of God understanding what God says about what and how man is designed to eat. We will do well to educate ourselves on these things and apply this education to healthy eating choices and habits. This writing not only seeks to educate but also to persuade and influence readers to pursue a balanced and healthy lifestyle resulting in improved health based upon the Bible record and experiential evidence. We can and should eat good and tasty foods, but we must be thoughtful and establish healthy eating habits and be physically active. This mindfulness serves to support our health, well-being, and quality of life. As we should study God's Word for spiritual nourishment and guidance we can discover helpful information that will teach us how the people in antiquity lived their lives which can lead us towards enjoying a longer and healthy life.
