Tourism in Bamoun Country: 1985-2010

Tourism in Bamoun Country: 1985-2010" is the theme of this analysis. Bamoun country is a spatial entity founded in 1394 by Nshare Yen, the very first king of the Bamoun dynasty. It is located in the highlands of West Cameroon and is today known as the Noun department, according to the administrative division. With its many cultural, heritage and historical treasures, this area is one of Cameroon's most popular tourist destinations. The construction of the sumptuous palace in 1917 by the most famous king of the Njoya dynasty, the 17th king, aroused the curiosity of the national and international community to travel to the Bamoun kingdom. The implementation of decree no. 85/1172 of August 24, 1985, clarifying the status of the National Administration in charge of tourism, as well as the renovation of the palace and the upgrading of Bamoun art through the creation of a museum, have accelerated tourism in this locality. This study analyzes the likely contribution of tourism to local development in the Noun department.
