SAM HUFF HAD THE RIGHT STUFF

THIS IS THE STORY OF FORMER GIANT AND REDSKIN GREAT SAM HUFF. HE DOES A GREAT JOB DESCRIBING HIS THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS ON AND OFF THE FIELD. HIS OPINIONS CONCERNING JIM BROWN, VINCE LOMBARDI, ALLIE SHERMAN AND VARIOUS TEAMATES ARE HONEST AND VERY INTERESTING. THE RETELLING OF THE MANY LOSES IN CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES IS ANOTHER HIGHLIGHT OF THIS MUST READ BOOK. SAM HUFF PUT THE "D" IN DEFENSE DURING HIS DAYS WITH THE GREAT GIANT TEAMS OF THE 50'S AND EARLY 60'S. I RECOMMEND THIS FOR ALL FOOTBALL FANS AND ESPECIALLY FOR GIANT FANS WHO WANT TO REMEMBER HOW IT WAS PLAYED BY MUCH TOUGHER GUYS THAN TODAY'S SPOILED ATHLETES. A REALLY GOOD READ.

Interesting look into the NFL of the 1950s and 1960s

This is an autobiography of Sam Huff, the celebrated middle linebacker of the New York Giants during their glory years of 1956-1963. Huff gives the inside scoop on what made those Giant teams such larger-than-life celebraties in the Big Apple, and what it was like to play in six NFL championship games during an eight year stretch, only to lose all but the first one.Huff talks candidly about the 1960 CBS-TV documentary "The Violent World of Sam Huff", how Allie Sherman dismantled the team, his bitterness over being traded to the Washington Redskins in 1964, as well as the tremendous experience of playing his final season (1969) in Washington under legendary coach Vince Lombardi. If you are fan of those glorious years of the NFL, this book is an interesting and informative look at that time.
