Tough Going is a fictional account of the adventures of a collection of people who are in Dallas on the weekend of a football game. The game itself, between the Universities of Oklahoma and Texas in the Cotton Bowl, was a real game during the 1980's, and it serves as the historical background for the fictional story. The primary plot concerns the slapstick complications faced by two fans who foolishly make the ultimate bet, and the mob hitman and his apprentice who have the responsibility to terminate the loser.
