A moving story of first love and second chances

Love, loss and personal redemption. TOUCHING THE SKY is the story of a woman who dreamt about finding her true love; who once wrote in her diary "I am waiting for my true love". Melissa Sherman was twenty-two when she left New York and turned her back on her first love. Over two decades later and she has built a life for herself. She runs a successful business, lives in a beautiful home and is well-loved by the townspeople. Yet at the end of the day, all these things aren't enough to stave off the loneliness that haunts her. Thus when she meets Lisa, a bubbly young potter who has recently moved to Vermont, she is reminded of what she gave up twenty-five years ago. When tragedy strikes Lisa, Mel finds herself comforting Lisa's husband Ben. And for the second time, Melissa experiences the love and passion that she hasn't felt in many years. While the back cover of the book appears to be all about romance, this book deals with a lot more including friendship, the tragedy of losing someone you loved, and finding yourself once again. It is a real-life accounting of life's tragedy and joy as seen in the heroine and the secondary characters. I must admit that the first half of the book lagged a little; however, the story takes a turn as soon as Melissa and Ben get together. This is where we see the reality that faces an older woman and a younger man. At times inspiring, at times heartbreaking, be ready to pull out the Kleenex as you start wondering whether Melissa stays with Ben, or once again turn her back on love. Will she live out the rest of her life remembering what she wrote in her diary thirty years ago, the words that would always make her yearn? Or would she finally find the missing puzzle from her life? TOUCHING THE SKY is an insightful and emotional tale that is guaranteed to thug at your heart.
