Willie Edward Taylor Carver is an amazing Appalachian writer. This is my new favorite book.
I have never read an accurate depiction of my home, my people and my life until Willie Carver’s “Tore All to Pieces.” I went through every imaginable emotion while reading this book, but the common thread through it all was pride. I feel proud of this book, as an eastern Kentuckian. Willie has captured our spirit, scars and simple moments with pure artistry. This book smells like hanging tobacco and tastes like Ale-8. I see traces of my kinfolks, neighbors, friends and enemies in this book, and the ways we all get along.
I wish I had 100 more chapters to read! ❤️
