Perfect for Touring DC -- 5 STARS!!!!!

We spent over a week in DC, and this book was perfect. The metro map, the street map, and the write-ups for each of the Top 10 categories were all perfect. We never were wanting for information. This book was a perfect companion to our DC vacation. You can't head to DC without this book. Plus, it's not too bulky to carry around as you discover our nation's capital!

A great guide for day to day use in DC

If you are looking for a guide to carry with you when exploring DC than this is the guide. It lays out excellent recommendations on where to eat and visit. I would plan your trip with a bigger guide but this is the one I would carry with you on your day to day travels in DC.

Full Color Photos Put You Right There!

I'm a big fan of Eyewitness Guides. Not a lot of fluff, just short and to the point reviews with great photography. I particularly like the buidling cut aways allowing you to see inside, as well as the "Star Sights" pinpointing the must-see spots in a particular building--great if you need to get in and out in a short time. Metro and city maps are also quite good.

Your key to a great trip...

Washington D.C. is a great destination and the key to exploring this great area is in having a great guide. I highly recommend this guide for any city, and the DC area is no exception. The guide is well put together and gives you all the information you need about safety, general information, transportation and full color pictures throughout the book to help you choose the sites that will interest you the most. It is a small guide but it is packed with information. Read it before your trip and then make your list of places to see- one "A" list of things that you MUST see, and the "B" list of those items you'd like to see. Plan well ahead, as you will have many options when you get there. We spent much of our time in the mall area, which has the Capitol, The White House, Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial and the fabulous Smithsonian Museums. Plan to spend plenty of time at the museums. We had to narrow it down to two museums and hit the Air & Space Museum and the American History Museums, but would have liked to see more, the museums are wonderful and are not to be missed. Stay on the beaten track and do not drive into DC, as this will be a frustrating adventure that you will have wished you hadn't started. Public transportation is clean and reliable in getting to the other areas of DC. Plan ahead with the DC guide and you will be assured a wonderful trip!

excellent book

so much detail, and presented in a really nice way with lots of maps and pictures. Told me everything about DC which I could possibly want to know!I'll definitely use an Eyewitness book on my next trip.Seemed to be perfectly accurate, too.
