These limitations often result in variability and compromised outcomes. To address this, digital technologies such as spectrophotometers, colorimeters, digital cameras, and intraoral scanners have been developed, offering more objective and reproducible measurements. Spectrophotometers are considered the gold standard for precision, while cameras and scanners improve communication with laboratories and provide practical, cost-friendly alternatives. Despite challenges of cost, accessibility, and training, these devices enhance accuracy, efficiency, and patient satisfaction. Emerging advances in artificial intelligence and CAD/CAM integration promise further progress, enabling predictive shade analysis, customized restorations, and even same-day prosthesis fabrication.
