Astonishing personal resiliency

This is an autobiographical work by Ray Moore, perceived at one time to be the UK's best radio disc jockey. It was written during the period between diagnosis of his mouth cancer and his death. Ray chose not to receive treatment for his cancer, but to try to live the best possible quality of life until the disease prevented him from continuing to do so. His decision was driven by an expectation of zero quality of life should he receive the best treatment (radical surgery plus radiotherapy) available at the time. Ray's wonderful sense of humour is prevalent throughout the book, as is a remarkable absence of any bitterness about being blighted with the disease. His outlook and personal strength throughout his ordeal is humbling and educational. The book has the power to change your outlook on life, specifically to influence you against spending so much time thinking/worrying about the future that you forget to live while you are fully capable of doing so. I also recommend the "companion" book "Tomorrow - Who Knows?", written primarily by his wife Alma.
