Mark McGinnis, a lawman running from his past, discovers that changing one's life is not as easy as getting on a horse and heading west. At first things seem to be going well. Mark finds a job working on a ranch and makes new friends, and what he hopes is a new life. One of the ranches' owners, Amy Masters, a very beautiful women, is falling in love with him.
But suddenly things begin to change. One day while Mark is watering horses that have been pulling a wagon load of farm supplies from the trading post, his young companion, the brother of Amy Masters, wonders off and stumbles upon a gruesome scene of murder. A man and women have been horribly mutilated.
Because of Mark's experience as a lawman, he is drawn into a web of horror that will haunt him and the Masters' family for years to come. He is not aware of it, but fate has determined that Mark will have a rendezvous with death, a meeting in Tombstone, Arizona that will either be an ending or a new beginning.
