Tomato occupies third place among the vegetables after potato and onion in India. It is an important vegetable in South India. Tomato is a short duration and water-intensive crop. Seasonal advantage and reasonable prices force the farmers to cultivate the crop. The farmers cultivate tomato when they have assured irrigation for three months. Rainfall has a direct influence on the tomato area which in turn influences the production. Variation in the output of tomato leads to wild fluctuation in prices, exposing the tomato growers to more risk. This book aims to analyze the trend and seasonal variation of tomato prices and assess the market integration among the major markets in south India.
