Honor from a different perspective, but fresh characters to explore

I was initially put off by the seeming rehash of the many already told tales. With more delving into the story, there were other facets and perspectives, fleshing out a host of our much beloved peripheral characters while illuminating those moments we did not see over the course of the initial eight volumes of Honor's history. I am looking forward to the next volume to see how the new folks do and what have been behind the scene moments now being elaborated upon instead of being mentioned in passing throughout the series.
