An informative and well-researched book

TOGETHER AGAIN is a must-read for anyone thrust into the role of caregiver for an infirmed or elderly family member. It explores the positive aspects of cohabitation and practical ways to make it a win-win situation. Never mind how you landed there, Niederhaus and Graham write with wit and humor ways to work it out. I especially appreciated their optomistic tone -the book is a compassionate view of the rewards of multigenerational living, not the drawbacks. The chapter called "Financial and Legal Considerations" is very helful. The authors offer a list of topics to explore with your own legal and financial advisors. I also found their resource list at the back of the book to be up-to-date and informative. Several generations sharing housing is not a new concept by any means, but the fresh ideas and current information in this gem of a book can make the results happier and more fulfilling for the entire family.

A very well-written and researched book. Expertly organized, with real-life stories. The trend of extended families reuniting is here to stay and this book couldn't have arrived at a better time!

Extremely helpful new book!

TOGETHER AGAIN quite successfully highlights the important issues of multigenerational living. Not only does it provide a conceptual framework, but engagingly offers case histories and practical advice. I found the last chapter especially helpful in normalizing common problems that arise in multigenerational living and providing excellent advice and references for dealing with - and yes, heading off - problems that can come from differences in personalities, needs, and preferences. As a counselor, I would recommend this book to clients who are considering multigenerational living, and who seek the comfort, joys, and fun of doing so.

Timely and Compelling!

Together Again is a timely manuscript and a MUST READ for anyone considering multigenerational living! The authors do an excellent job of providing very useful and practical information. The stories and real life examples demonstrate the reality of Living Together Again. Well done!

Timely, Compelling New Book

TOGETHER AGAIN: A Creative Guide to Successful Multigenerational Living is a rich and welcome addition to my library. At last, Niederhaus and Graham have given readers a practical book addressing today's trend in housing that allows families to enjoy companionship and independence. I've been thinking about "retirement living" since my twenties--the goal being a housing arrangement where several good friends and family could live in close proximity while maintaining privacy (co-housing). TOGETHER AGAIN is a compelling, timely, thorough work on multigenerational living with housing options that readers will want to consider. The authors drew on years of research and over a hundred interviews; they present at least a dozen different ways that people can live together successfully. Open the book to any page and you will find people from California to New York telling their stories about creative living arrangements from downtown in a large city to a ranch in rural America. Read about topics such as proximity and privacy, remodeling a home for greater privacy, financial considerations, planning for aging, agreements for living, and successful relationships. The reader of TOGETHER AGAIN soon realizes that for many people living together with family and friends makes sense. As a Boomer planning for the future, I will return to TOGETHER AGAIN: A Creative Guide to Successful Multigenerational Living again and again for good ideas and wisdom from two thoughtful authors.
