Togakure Ryu Martial Arts: Fundamentals And Methods Of Self-Defense: From Basics To Advanced Techniques

The origins of the Japanese martial art known as Toga-kure Ryu can be traced back to the Sengoku period (15th to 17th centuries). The system in question is categorized as koryu, an appellation denoting martial arts traditions that originated in Japan prior to the Meiji Restoration in 1868.
The principal emphasis of Toga-kure Ryu lies in armed combat methodologies, encompassing the application of an assortment of spears (yari), swords (katana and wakizashi), staves (bo), and other customary Japanese armament. Moreover, it integrates unarmed strategies for self-preservation and confrontation in close proximity.
At present, Toga-kure Ryu is regarded as an uncommon and obscure branch of martial arts, confined to a select few students and practitioners who have diligently preserved its methodologies. Similar to numerous koryu martial arts, this style also emphasizes character development, respect, and discipline in addition to combat techniques.
