To The South Side tells the adventures of Mr Miserly's cat during a walkabout to The South Side. There he comes across Shadowman, who brings the Christmas tree decorations in Abby and Keanu's house to life. The decorations wonder where they come from, as does the tree and, indeed, Shadowman himself. Through Abby and Keanu, the cat meets their grandmother, Mrs Muck. Mrs Muck is a very neat and tidy person who simply has to be put into her place by the monstrous It who lives in the ant Queendom down below. Eventually, on his way back to The North Side, the cat hears the Creation Story as told by an ancient spider. An internet fact sheet and a spider's dictionary compliment the second and third stories respectively. This second book in The Cat Series contains three stories written for starter readers in the 6 to 9 year old age-group.
