Harry Campbell, the editor of the Claremont Daily Tribune in Claremont, Michigan, becomes ill with an incurable disease. He has a fear of death, so he visits his best friend, Joe Stein, who introduces Harry to the love of God. Harry tells his wife, Karen, of his sickness - she fixes him a nice dinner while Harry takes a nap. When Karen goes to wake Harry, he has disappeared, but Karen is given a sign that he will return. Harry has been taken to Heaven, where he is given an assignment to rescue a Christian missionary from a hostile tribe in Africa. Aided by a mysterious priest from the Bible and a famous archangel, Harry goes on a remarkable, dangerous, exhilarating adventure that proves that God uses ordinary men to accomplish great things.
