'While hurrying to catch a plane, widowed lawyer Mitch Sayer finds a single page from a handwritten letter, a letter offering forgiveness to an unknown recipient. But thoughts of its possible owner flee his mind when he meets his attractive seatmate, Piper Wynne. Guilt has driven Piper from her family, and her new job as an insurance investigator offers the prospect of starting over. Mitch's discovery of her letter and his quest for its addressee make it difficult to continue to hide her past, especially as their new friendship deepens. Will Mitch's love for Piper truly heal her heart?'
emphasis on healing

Piper Wynne is running from a tragic event in her past when she meets Mitch Sayer on an airplane. Oddly enough, Piper continues to run into Mitch after they have gone their separate ways, and a tentative relationship forms. Piper's past catches up with her though, and Piper will have to depend on the few people she's chosen to become close to in her new life to get her through the pain and heartache she must face. Arlene James sets the pace of this book just right. No plot point is revealed too quickly, and there is no rush to resolution. The relationships in the book form naturally and at a comfortable pace. She also places an emphasis on healing from past pain, and as the reader you understand why it is important for Piper to deal with her issues before she can be in a happy relationship. Again, this happens at a believable pace, it's not rushed through just to get to an arbitrary "romantic ending". I highly enjoyed reading this book and felt it was one of the better "Love Inspired" novels I've read.
