TITHING BY FAITH IS A CALL TO RESTORE THE PRINCIPLE OF TITHINGTithing By Faith, calls for a restoration of the principle of tithing in today's Church. But this is not an arbitrary call. Rather it is a recognition of current need and opportunity. Tithing should only occur where its biblical purpose calls for it. Lord designed tithing for His own purposes. So He has used it only when that purpose existed. And that purpose exists today. "The hammer stays in the toolbox until its purpose arises." This is a matter of design and utility.Actually, the purpose for tithing is contemporary with the existence of the Church. And I will prove this from the Scriptures. But only a comparative few Christians practice it today. So local churches have not adequately financed their redemptive ministries. Instead, ministry expectations are reducing to worldly standards. On the average, less than 12% of proclaimed Christians tithe. But the biblical standard for using the principle of tithing has always been 100%. The implications of this statistic are alarming. It reveals a compromised worldview in the visible church. You will find the stats that support this statement alarming. There Is A Controversy About TithingThe ongoing controversy about tithing is not helpful. Those for and against it have presented errant arguments. Arguments that sound good only when they are not tested. Also, little respect is given to Jesus' vision and mission for His Church. But I am thankful to the Lord for the highlights among us. Tithing is a proven principle. It has always provided more than enough, for the support of the redemptive ministry. It is the Lord's sovereign principle for financing this kind of ministry. We need a biblical renewal of the corporate mind of the Church. This solution begins with a different way of looking at our world and the Church's purpose in it. A biblical way of looking at it. The solution is not first more money. It will bring more money but it begins with a paradigm shift. We have to see the principle of tithing through the lens of Scripture. Which is, through the eyes of God. Especially as it places us in relationship to Jesus' vision and mission for His Church. There Are Questions We Must AnswerTo answer these questions, I lead the reader through a study of tithing as presented in Scripture. We review the biblical history of tithing. We look at its spiritual and practical purposes in various settings. This historical overview confirms the sufficiency of tithing for everyone involved. And we will see tithings purpose accomplished in different socio-economic systems. Not only under law but also in its original setting of tithing by faith. This brings to light the continuity of tithing throughout biblical history. I will confirm the nature and power of principle. Especially those principles established by God. When used, the principle of God always delivers its purpose, according to His design. So What Should We Do? In concluding the matter I confirm that Moses' law cannot be our reason for tithing. But also, it should not be our reason for not tithing. What we must consider is how tithing can affect the Churches redemptive ministries. What effect can it have on our pursuit of Jesus' vision and mission for His Church? And also, how will the tither's family budget and standard of living be affected. Biblical precedence confirms God's blessing on the tithing community. There will always be a Cycle Of Total Prosperity in the tithing community.
