Perhaps /better/ than the movie..?

I first bought this book after seeing the movie back in June 2000. Titan AE really captured my heart as a movie, I just felt it was so well done and had such an interesting (and hardly seen) plot and characters, perhaps one of the best science fiction stories I've ever read or watched, and I felt really inspired me as a writer and an artist. I raided the book store after seeing the movie and picked out this book along with both Cale and Akima's stories, and this one was, perhaps, one of my favorites. I think it's great that they did an adult novelization of it, because not all of us are ten year old boys whose only interests are the lasers and the big bad aliens. I haven't read the book in a long time now, being caught up in other books since I discovered the fantasy genre (Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings in particular), but in a way, I felt the novelization was /better/ than the movie, just in the extra depth it put into the stories and the characters. The novelization is based on the earlier version of the film, so it has some scenes that didn't appear in the movie, which are interesting to read. I really enjoyed reading a novelization more on an adult reading level, and for sure I'd recommend this to anyone, even people who have not seen Titan AE yet, and if you haven't, I highly encourage you to. Don't let the box office fool you; this movie, for sure, was one of those small gems that just got out at the wrong time. It is highly unfortunate this movie didn't get the attention and credit it deserved (Disney exactly a year after Titan AE's theatrical release brought out the movie Atlantis, which I felt was like their imitation of Titan AE in both quality and style, though it didn't live up). For sure seeing this movie was one of the best things I've ever done, but it's all a matter of opinion. Find out for yourself.

Absolutely Amazing

I cannot describe how good this book was. I thought nothing could be better than the movie and I was right, but this book is the closest thing out there. I feel that Titan A.E. is actually BETTER than Star Wars. The way that Cale's and Akima's stories tie in together is very intuitive and well planned out. I recommend this book to sci fi lovers and people who just like to listen to cool stuff happen.

Awesome book!

I love this book. Most novelizations are the original story, but when it is made into the movie, it is cut down a lot, to save on time and money. In the novel, you actually have a better feel for the characters, because you know where they come from and why they act the way they do. If they put everything from the book in the movie, it would take 10 years to make and 8 hours to watch. I don't mind the curses or violence. It's sci-fi/action/adventure. If I were in the same situation, I would be saying the same curses, I am sure of it. It doesn't say on the book who it's geared at. It a big book with a lot of big words and isn't meant for young kids anyways. If you want a kid book of this movie, find a coloring book. This isn't a kid book or movie. 13 and up is all that is gonna like it anyways. The movie doesn't have fun Disney-like songs and cuddly characters. It is geared for teens and up anyways. This book is a lot of fun and a great story and paints wonderful pictures of the characters and scenes.

Life after Earth....

As soon as I saw the trailers for Titan A. E., I knew it was my kind of movie. When I realized there was a novelization that came out a month early, I went out and bought it. I was amazed. Novelizations usually are inferior to the movie, which means this is going to be a spectacular movie with great visuals (even if it is animated). The story is set fifteen years after the destruction of Earth by an evil alien species, the Drej. The few humans that survived are scattered throughout the galaxy. Cale is one such human survivor. A little boy when Earth was destroyed, he is now twenty, and still bitter that his father left him in the final moments of Earth. But it turns out that his father hid the key to creating a new home for the humans - a spaceship called the Titan. Only Cale can find it, making him humanity's last hope. But the Drej are looking for the Titan as well. This was an action-packed novel, and I can't wait to see the movie.

I just couldn't wait for the movie, I read it in 4 days!

This is a really good adaption to the movie coming out in June (at least comparing what I read to all the trailers and teasers I've seen for it), although the descriptions of characters are a little shakey and hard to match with the characters shown in the previews, unless you already know all their names. I would recommend this to anyone, except for younger kids I would tell you wait for the Junior Novelization. The language that the author uses, and even some of the characters' actually dialogue, tends to get a little rough.
