Timestamps/Mementos

This anthology of poetic prose is an inverted piece of work that feeds off of each side of its writings. Timestamps/Mementos is two books into one and invites the reader into a world where darkness leads the journey through coming-of-age tragedies into one of light, love, and self acceptance.

What separates the two pieces?

Timestamps is the treasure box I put my bad memories into. It is the space in my mind where many significant instances happened in my 20's. Death of a parent, the breaking of friendships, the moments of doubt, and the imprinted love that would never come to be.These are stories driven in epic poetic prose that so many can relate to, and sincerely I hope people do.What breaks the difference between Timestamps and Mementos is the inevitable lose of innocence, while Mementos is the longing to hold on to those moments that seem so enduring, all of which is lost in Timestamps. Questions are always turning in my head in Timestamps- questions I never seem to find the answer to. The irony here is that the answers everyone else is seeking for me are here in these poems.Timestamps is a world of experiences told by me and many other characters. I hope that when you read this book you find a sense of yourself, and possibly that you will witness humanity at its finest.

Memento- to keep. A moment of passing time that is always something to remember. Mementos came later on as a playful idea, but the more I wrote after I finished Timestamps, I found that there was a balance at play. Whatever Timestamps had built itself to be suddenly came into fruition as an inverted piece of work. There was nothing I could or would to stop it, so I let it happen. Mementos is the bargaining for myself to remember the experiences I lived and felt in order to recognize themselves as human experiences, as something normal, as something to keep always. These passages are constant conversations with myself about acceptance. Accepting myself, accepting what happened, and accepting that I may not have the power to change things, but I have the will to change and to see myself through.
