It was his 21st birthday, a day he prepared for all of this life. Reaching for the amulet he has hanging around his neck, he looks intently at the Aztec engravings. The piece has a fierce-looking face and what appears to be an Aztec calendar. He had endured countless hours in weapons and martial arts training. He had read hundreds of books on history and geography. He was fluent in half a dozen languages, including English, German, Spanish, French, Chinese, and Ute Indian. All of his training did not prepare him for what happened in the past few minutes. He was not ready to know how it would feel to take a human life. He felt a wave of nausea come over him, and his stomach began to heave.
This young man had just made his first jump in time. His name is Travis Robert Frost, the son of James and Emily Frost of Pleasant Grove, Utah. The gift of time travel skipped every other generation, and now he was "the Traveler."
