Time and The Other Side gives an insight into my psycho-social, emotional, political and spiritual experiences from being incarcerated at the Belize Central Prison (BCP), how the privatized BCP is run as a schism for profit, and the dehumanizing means employed to accomplish this end. It also gives a colorful insight into the mindset of many of the young black men doing time at the BCP. The time spent also gave me the time to produce a philosophical essay on time, in which I set out to describe who I think I am, and my perspective on time. With time on hand, I was compelled to hand record some intriguing paranormal experiences of Shyne and Diondre, two fellow inmates who shared some of their personal experiences with me, and to better understand aspects of the nature and spirit of humans and get further insight into the world of the unseen.
Shyne's encounter with spirits or beings from "the other side" has been far more personal and frequent than the experiences of Diondre. Shyne's encounter started from his early years growing up in Dangriga, Belize. At age 4, he encountered a woman while playing in his yard who he believes wants his soul and was trying to kill him. Another encounter occurred at age 7 and mysteriously at age 47 she revealed to him who she was and why she was seeking his soul. Her hunt for him persisted throughout his life and during his travels to the USA.
She told Shyne she was a queen of an African kingdom and lost her kingdom in a deal whereby she was required to deliver three souls to the one she made the deal with, and that before he migrated to the states forty years ago, she has been hunting for his soul. Then she eerily added that she has reaped two souls thus far, but the one from Stann Creek got away from her.
Shyne believes that perhaps his father, a Grand Master of a Free Mason Lodge in Dangriga, may have made a deal and offered his soul as payment. His encounters with spirits seem almost mythical and if they were made up, then he has a very good imagination. Based on my knowledge of the unseen world, I believe his stories and made special effort to record them. Perhaps the most intriguing experience he had was sex with two white girls in New York and a young girl in Belize whom were already residing on "the other side".
