Til The Boys Come Home is a moving, action-packed Canadian play, about small-town teenage boys and girls whose lives are torn apart by the Second World War. It is told through the eyes of Will. He is probably about forty years old and married with teenage kids of his own. He finds an old photograph that he took years ago in the small town he grew up in. It is a photograph of his friends when he was just a teenager, just before the war. In this picture, they have their whole lives ahead of them. His childhood sweetheart is in the picture and so is his best friend. It is the last time they would all be together. As he talks, the photo comes to life and the audience is taken on a trip into the past. From that small town restaurant of hopes and dreams, to the chilling barracks scenes where one of his lifelong friends is betrayed, to the bittersweet last dance at the restaurant where the boys say goodbye to the girls, some for the last time, to the terrifying realities of battle in Europe where fear and bravery are brothers in arms, to the crushing welcome home, this powerful story of love and war will grip you and not let go. This play is ideally suited for young men and women to perform. Featuring a cast of thirteen.
