High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Tiferet Yisrael Synagogue, (Hebrew: בית הכנסת תפארת ישראל ), was one of the most outstanding synagogues in the Old City of Jerusalem which was destroyed by the Jordanians in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Named after Rabbi Yisroel of Ruzhin, founder of the Ruzhin Hasidic dynasty, it was also known as the Nissan Beck Shul, (Yiddish: ניסן בק שול), after its founder, Rabbi Nissan Beck.
