This book will use small tidbits from my memories as a young farm boy growing up in South Dakota, United States between 1932-1952. Included in these tidbits is his only sibling, Wanda, born the next year. When Leonard was six and ready to start first grade in school, he stood firm that he would not go without his sister. Since his dad, Walter Meyer, was on the School Board it was arranged and they went through all twelve grades together. Many photos are included to see how much fun it was growing up on a farm in South Dakota
These tidbits will hopefully give you insight into what life was like in America before WW II.
Part One of this book presents a few Tidbits from Leonard's life from birth through Grade School, (March 1932 to June 1946). This was the time of the "Depression" and World War II. The "Depression" was also referred to as the "Dirty Thirty's" because of the lack of rain and frequent dust storms.
Part Two covers July 1946 to 15 April 1954, his High School years and the time before being inducted into the Army.
