Through my Wire

On the brink of a carefully planned suicide one fateful last glance in the mirror changed everything. Flashbacks of chaos, drama, drug addiction, abuse and torment manifested in the reflection. Eyes blurry with tears, suddenly I experienced life changing clarity. With profound vision this book was born. I decided to take a huge leap of faith. I quit my nice, comfy, corporate job and here I am, sharing my story with the world. The book opens when I was a young privileged spoiled brat who cried to get anything I wanted. A quick move to the suburbs rapidly led to moving to a foreign country so my dad could pursue his passion of being a rock star. He achieved his dream. Adjusting to Un-American life wasn't that bad, considering we lived better than half the village because we had running water. I became grateful for the simple things. Shortly after fleeing back to America due to civil war, our village was overrun and almost burned to the ground. As a preteen in America, many outlets for experimenting were provided and I took advantage of most of them. If someone said I shouldn't do it I did it. If someone said take one, I took three. Someone bet me that I wouldn't take acid for a month. The next day I went on a thirty day acid trip, while still going to high school. The drugs became a gateway for further experimentation, sexual experimentation to be exact. Men, women, the whole rainbow, I did not discriminate. Unfortunately, this lifestyle came with negative consequences. Rape from a complete stranger, abuse, constant moves and drug abuse became my new normal. A few years later ecstasy became my drug of choice. I would rather spend money on drugs, make up a lie to my mother to make her feel bad and pay my bills. The thrill of the ecstasy was more important. The drug, the feeling of loving everybody and rubbing your own hair for an hour became not just a habit, it became a lifestyle. When I wasn't high on ecstasy my only mission was to find more ecstasy. Trying to live a better life, I enrolled in a college on the other side of the state. Not long after that I met my future ex-boyfriend. He mentally and physically abused me after only three weeks of dating. I left my family and friends and moved to another state with him. Seclusion from anything and everyone I knew only increased the abuse. I feared for my own life and wellbeing every day. After many years I was able to get away from him and establish myself by moving out of state. With another fresh start I was able to create a somewhat quiet and decent life. Eight years went by and suddenly things came crashing down all around me. My brother was shooting prescription pain pills, I got a new boss who degraded me, my car engine blew up, bank account was negative seven hundred and fifty dollars, I think you get the picture. I was a burden for everyone. With nothing left to live for, I strategically planned my death. I felt at peace knowing it would be over soon. I wondered how many people would actually show up to my funeral. In my darkest moment a light bulb went off. I realized my purpose. Use my words to help people. Use words of others to motivate and encourage the world. A voice for the voiceless. Raw, real and relatable content is exactly what the world needs to ignite change, start a movement. Believe in yourself and never put limitations on your dreams. As you dissect the pages in this book, I am opening up my complete vulnerability to you. I hope to encourage others to share their own "wire". Share your own tribulations, share your own story. Inspire others to overcome their own wires. Let's stop hating on one another and use our stories to promote understanding. You, the readers, the storytellers, will be the catalysts igniting the fire of change and growth. Through my Wire is just the beginning. I can't wait for all of you to help me write Chapter 2.
