Despite being over fourty years old (the book was first published in the 1960's), this little book still manages to hold up well in the beginning of the twenty first century. The best way I can describe this book is that it's a good starting point for those who wish to take an introductory look at higher spiritual concepts such as rebirth, multiple spirit realms, purpose of life, etc. It defines what the purpose of life is, how it is accomplished, what the soul goes through during various lifetimes, and various other spiritual topics, including suicide (hint: It isn't good to do it, but those who do can be helped). The writing style is simple and gets the point across, often helped by illustrations to demonstrate a point. I work at a library and I get exposed to a lot of religious based books (almost all of them christian). Yet despite the sheer number of religoius and christian books on the shelves, I find myself coming back to this little book often. Despite it's age, the information it contians is timeless for those who seek spirituality, rather then religious dogma. It speaks of the oneness of all, the inevitable destiny of every being (permenant entry into heaven), the power of love, and the implications of reincarnation and karma. If you're looking for a place to start on non-religious spirituality, this is a great book to start.
