Longing to return to Europe after living in Switzerland for 2 1/2 years, as a missionary for the LDS Church, I worked my way back. Worked a few months for my father in Vancouver B.C., Canada, then took Greyhound to Montreal, went north to a little French town that only spoke French, got a job at Reynolds Aluminum, and saved to go to Spain. Taught English to Spaniards for 1 year, then worked on construction in Munich, speaking German, then spent one year in Florence Italy, birthplace of the Renaissance: Leonardo da Vinchi, Michelangelo, etc. Became fluent in Spanish and Italian after this trip.
