Great to read a book by a writer that has some moxy .

To-days music fan is finally demanding to know the truth about it's Stars. You finally realize that after reading the rash of books that come out on the heals of Stardom, that they are basically a re-hash of the perfect picture painted by a publisist or the star involved. Laurence Leamer gives you a glimpse of reality and makes you aware that stars should be accountable for everything even if it is in the past.I would personally like to see him dig a little deeper. Congratulations Laurence, get in touch, I can help you with your dig!!

Great look at the behind-the-scenes world of country music

This book is great if you are a longtime country fan, or just getting into it. Each chapter explores the history and lifestyles of many country superstars including Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Wynonna, and Patty Loveless. It also gives an inside look at the lives of Music Row producers such as Tim DuBois, Scott Hendricks, and Tony Brown, and how they have shaped country music into the business it is today. Even non-country fans are sure to enjoy reading about the processes of writing and picking songs, and recording an album. A must-read for any music fan!

A comprehensive overview of today's country music scene.

This is a terrific introduction -- for the newcomer -- to the world of Country Music, starting with the people who make the music and working out from there to embrace that entire world. For any longstanding Country fan, it's a chatty and respectful dossier on many favorite performers (plus a few that might yet be and a few that'll never get there.) The personality profiles eventually start to take on the same rhythm and shape, but, for the most part, this breezy, affectionate primer is as irresistible as a George Strait tune.
