Born in South Baltimore in a quieter, more serene time in the city's history, in the community of Leadenhall, Sharp, and West Streets, Trenton Eugene Brown-Bey is a proud graduate of the Baltimore City Public Schools and a former student at the Old Bay College of Maryland, which was located on Centre Street. "Let me begin by saying, I truly have found that certain something. Being an Asiatic African-American male in the streets of Baltimore has its ups and downs, especially when you have found the keys to the doors of hell, while wandering the dark halls and stairwells, looking and praying to find an exit. The insanity of this gives you time to think. So, in writing this book of poems, I am saying that I have conquered mu lower self. Now I am truly walking in the light of the world." He resides in Baltimore's Cedonia neighborhood with his wife of 38 years and has plans for additional works of poetry.
