Thoro Harris: Gospel Music's Composer

Thoro Harris composed more than 1000 gospel songs, published books for hundreds of organizations, denominations and groups including the Apostolic Faith Movement, the original Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, the Assemblies of God, the Church of the Nazarene, the Seventh-day Adventist (and other seventh day groups), and a plethora of holiness factions. Yet, when asked about Thoro Harris, it is generally met with; "Who"? In the pages of this book, we expect to give the reader a glimpse into the man who penned so many Gospel Songs and was a key influencer in the lives of so many ministers of the Gospel. While it is Thomas Dorsey who is called The Father of Gospel Music. It is Thoro Harris that composed or inspired many of the songs and hymns.

From an early beginning as a child prodigy, Thoro Harris became a prolific organist, hymn writer and minister. He worked closely with Gospel greats like Bishop Garfield Thomas (G.T.) Haywood, Fred (F. F.) Bosworth, Aimie Simple McPherson, Charles Fox Parham and so many others. He left a legacy of worship that we celebrate.
