Desperate to escape an abusive home, Charlotte Grey enrols in graduate school at the prestigious Thornfield University to study art history. Charlotte relishes this chance to start over and reinvent herself for the better, but finds that her teaching assistant assignment threatens to throw her new life out of balance.
