Thomas Wyatt and Anne Boleyn: Three Madrigals for Mixed Voices

Here are three poems that Thomas Wyatt dedicated to his alleged mistress, Anne Boleyn, set to music. These madrigals, written for four unaccompanied mixed voices, are based on polytonality: each voice sings in a different scale, yet the harmonic result remains consistently consonant, even though there is no shared key. The chord succession is always unexpected.
