St. Thomas Aquinas considers that all knowledge begins with one's own sensory experience, from which various degrees of abstraction can develop. The learning that one has of God also follows paths that derive from experience: God is known by his effects. On these questions, as on other issues, we can find no specific treatises. We need to investigate among his writings where the arguments are addressed, which is usually in more than one writing.
