Many of the machines that we see and use every day are based on simple physical and mechanical principles. In this book, Gardner and illustrator Jeffrey Brown give a simple and effective demonstration of how thirty-five machines work. All explanations are clear, to the point and the illustrations are non-technical in nature. No understanding of industrial drawings and very little knowledge of mechanics are needed. Nearly all reasonably bright high school age children will be capable of understanding them.
