This Is Me, and I Shine So Bright

By: Wilkes, Shanell W.

This Is My Skin, and I Shine So Bright is a joyful celebration of identity, family, and the beautiful rainbow of skin tones within the Black community.

Meet Nova, a bright, curious girl with light skin, blonde hair, and a unique glow that sets her apart from her family. Her brothers, Taj and Kaylon, have red hair and freckles. Her twin sisters, Zora and Zella, look just like Daddy. Her baby sister, Annabelle, has fair skin like their momma. Everyone is Black, but not quite like Nova.

At times, Nova felt like she didn't belong. But through the love of her family, she discovers a powerful truth: Black isn't just one color. It's many shades. And every shade is beautiful.

With vibrant illustrations and a heartfelt message, this book encourages children of all backgrounds to embrace who they are and love the skin they're in.

A must-have for classrooms, homes, and hearts of all ages.
