Dr. Frank Robinson has lived a life that has encompassed a meandering trail of adventure, travel, ingenuity and at times risk. In this, his second book, he outlines and takes the reader on a journey of how a black man born and raised in Newark, New Jersey navigates through and ultimately accomplishes more than he or others ever dreamed possible. Often times throughout his life when "failure" seemed eminent and almost certain, he repeatedly put his nose to the grindstone, sought the council of others, and pulled himself up as they say, "by his own bootstraps"."Doc", as he's called by friends and associates, completed high school in Newark, NJ. He then matriculated and graduated from Rutgers University and subsequently Long Island University in Brooklyn, N.Y. In the interim he married Karen Collins and they became the proud parents of 2 lovely daughters. So as not to give away the entire story, he spent of portion of his medical school years in the Dominican Republic. This period of his life is wonderfully detailed in his first book, My Dominican Experience which was a huge success.Dr. Robinson went on to graduate from Rutgers Medical School in NJ and practiced medicine over the years in North Carolina as well as Georgia. He has held many positions in medicine both clinically as well as administratively. At the present time, he's semi-retired but continues to cover urgent care facilities as well as perform dermatologic surgery at his own small private office in Stockbridge, GA part-time. He's an avid reader, particularly non-fiction, and enjoys gardening, traveling, attending medical conferences and teaching, particularly in the field of anatomy, which he truly loves. Though many have encouraged him to retire he has no plans to do that anytime soon. He and his wife Karen, who is a nurse, continue to enjoy and stay active in their respective health care fields as well as spend time with their grandchildren in Alabama.
