I love Larry Mantle's show on KPCC radio in Pasadena and listen to Air Talk on the radio and on the internet whenever I get a chance. I listen to Film Week every Friday- the best movie review show anywhere! This is Mantle's collection of the most memorable radio interviews in his 20+ years as Air Talk host. Mantle's interviews have inspired me to pick up books I never would have on my own and question ideas that had never crossed my mind before one of his discussions. As a Southern California resident, his show has kept me informed of local issues and have encouraged me to explore this crazy, haphazard place we call home. Mantle is a generous, curious and professional interviewer; a rare combination in this age of spin and squawk. This book is pretty much transcripts of his interviews, and what a pleasure they are to read. He includes commentary on each interview and I especially liked the introduction, where he reveals some of his personal story and how he came to be the radio host he is today. It's always a delight to listen to Mantle's pleasant, enthusiastic voice and this book is a fine supplement to Air Talk and a wonderful collection of interviews in its own right.
