"Thirty-Nine Again" kept me turning the pages from the first to the last. It's funny, sexy, supsenseful with a warrior hero and a feisty, smart, sassy heroine. Sabrina is breast-cancer survivor with a new attitude. She's fearless. Evan is totally sexy, but also tender and gentle and he "gets" Sabrina. Together, they run from, then fight, some very bad guys. Sabrina isn't afraid to smart-mouth the baddies. I laughed at Sabrina's irreverance, was on the edge of my seat at the chase scenes and sighed at the love scenes. I loved this book. I highly recommend it.

STORY BRIEF: Sabrina spent her thirty-ninth birthday undergoing chemotherapy and had part of a breast removed. It is one year later. She's been living with Scott for six years. He won't commit to a wedding date or give her a ring. Sabrina has low self esteem, partly due to Scott's reluctance to look at her scarred body. While Scott is away, an armed burglar breaks into her home. Sabrina fights him. Evan (her personal trainer) surprisingly shows up and helps her. Sabrina ends up fleeing, evading and creatively outthinking Mexican mob bad guys and U.S. government agents. REVIEWER'S OPINION: I love this author's clever, witty, intelligent style. I had a smile on my face and was chuckling many, many times. It's not snarky; it's better than snarky. I was intrigued with the heroine's attitude and brave creativity. She made up some on-the-spot-lies (to get out of tough situations) that were really good. The author spent a little less time developing the romantic relationship than most romance novels, but the relationship was good and fulfilling. The sex scenes were warmly touching. MINOR FLAW: I did not care for the book cover. Also Evan's tattoos described on page 202 were different from the tattoos on the cover. DATA: Story length: 272 pages. Swearing language: strong (including religious swear words). Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: 2. Total number of sex scene pages: 7. Setting: current day Baltimore, Maryland area. Copyright: 2008. Genre: contemporary romantic suspense.
Sex, drugs, and lies...

Sabrina has decided to re-do her thirty-ninth birthday. When she turned thirty-nine the first time, she was in the fight for her life against breast cancer. Having survived the lumpectomy and chemo, she is ready to begin her life again. Her steady boyfriend, Scott, doesn't seem to understand her since the big "c" word popped up and doesn't want to touch her body anymore. Sabrina's self-esteem is rather low when it comes to her body, but it doesn't stop her from lusting after her personal trainer, Evan. Evan is more than he seems. His blue-black hair, dark bedroom eyes, and athletic physique make Sabrina's heart beat double time. But is he just a laid-back physical trainer? Or is he something more? When thugs break into Sabrina's home, it's Evan she sees coming to her rescue, gun in hand. Just who is this guy? When Evan rushes her out of her home, she knows that something big is about to begin. Little did she realize that it would be a threat not only to the life she's known, but also to her heart. Sex, drugs, and lies... and that's just the beginning. This is a wonderful story about a woman who has survived against all odds. Sabrina starts out as a self-conscious, fairly quiet woman who leads an everyday normal life. When her boyfriend's extracurricular activities bring drugs and guns her way, she takes it in stride and manages to come out on top. We see Sabrina grow into a confident, strong woman. If the excitement of the storyline isn't enough to keep you occupied, the blossoming love and steamy sex scenes between Sabrina and Evan certainly will! Just finished reading Thirty-Nine Again by Lynn Reynolds. Thoroughly enjoyed the book! I started reading last night, got sucked in, and ended up finishing it at 1:15 am! The writer's style had me feeling as if I were part of the book, in the same space as the characters during conversations and actions. Usually I feel like I am in movie mode when I read, watching a screen inside my head but this time I felt like it was unfolding before me!

She's smart, she's sassy, she's a survivor. Sabrina O'Hara is a character with a comeback--in more ways than one. If you ever thought 40 was over the hill, read Lynn Reynolds' THIRTY-NINE AGAIN and think again. Suspense, humor, and fast-paced action will leave you breathless, along with this spunky heroine with a taste for men who leave her gasping for answers. You'll be turning pages faster than the Tokyo Romancecar to Numazu.
