INTRODUCTION Statement of the Problem: Thinking Style in Relation to Self-Management and Responsibility Taking Behaviour among Students of Higher Studies. Thinking Style: The thinking style of individuals is their preferred method of dealing with routine matters. It is the way in which persons use their abilities, acquire knowledge, and organize their thoughts. The way of acquiring knowledge and organizing the thoughts help individuals expressing these thoughts in an appropriate in a specific situation. Individuals may face different situations at a time or at different times. No one deals with different situations in the same manner. As, for example, a doctor dealing with patients in the clinic will use his knowledge in a different manner compared with the situations in which the same person playing with children at home or he is talking with friends. The thinking style adopted by an individual to deal with a social situation may differ from that to deal with family situations, political situations, or scientific issues. This implies that an individual may have many thinking style that may differ from time to time or situation to situation (Al-Otoom, 2004). Some common thinking style includes Synthesist thinkers, idealist thinkers, pragmatist thinkers, analyst thinkers, and realist thinkers. Synthesists are characterized by creative thinking. Synthesist thinkers perceive the world in terms of opposites. If someone says black, they will think white and if someone says long, they will think short. To deal with such personalities it is advisable to listen appreciatively to their speculation. Idealist persons have faith in high-level goals and standards. If someone wants to associate with these people, he/she has to align with their quality standards, goals, service, and community good. Pragmatic thinkers have the characteristic of flexibility. Generally, they believe in immediate return. They do not believe in a grand plan or long-term strategies that may change the world. Persons desirous to connect with these people may emphasize short-term objectives on which they can get started with resources at hand.
