concise, organized, effective

The books in this series are all very effective and age-appropriate for review and emphasis, in that each skill or concept is briefly covered (the context assumes the skills have already been covered at length previously by other teaching) and organized into themed units (Ancient Egypt, Baseball, Human Anatomy, etc). We use ours in homeschooling, but the series would be equally effective for a classroom-educated student if the student were needing additional practice in particular areas. I especially like that this book offers much-needed practice in note-taking, outlining, and main-idea skills, since these "gleaning" skills (very important for older students but too late to teach them when they actually need them) are not emphasized enough in elementary-aged classrooms.
