Good to Know the Truth

Have you ever read a book that went into so many points about racism that it made you step back and look at life and the way you live it? I have just read a book called "think about racism". The book talked about many different up's and down's with the life of a black with Linda's writing I found that it get to the point and keep you into the book. Linda divided the book into different parts. Parts that go from were there was slavery to today's world and how little things have changed. Blacks have always had a hard life. They have always had to work harder and take that one step in front of whites just to get a little bit ahead. From the time there was slavery blacks were never given the choice to make a statement. They were just put into slavery. Slavery went on for many years. Then slowly it started to die out, but to this day there are still places that have slaves. Linda also talks about an education. Going from blacks were not allowed to learn to were today they go to college and get the jobs that they want with no question asked. But there are still colleges that will not let blacks into their college just because of their color. In the book Linda talks about how one college will only take a smell percent of blacks, because they do not want more blacks then whites. That college wants it to be like that because they do not want more blacks then whites. They say that if more blacks go to that college then whites will not want to go. Linda really gets into crime and the different between whites and blacks and the way that the police are to them. She talks about how if you were black you are at a higher risk of going to jail by the age of 25. Police say that the color of a person has nothing to do with the crime or the punishment that has been given. At the end of the book Linda talks about ways that we could eliminate racism. She says one quote in this part that I find fits the whole world and racism. " No issues about racism is new, nor will it ever change" This quote I find fits every one minds and that I believe no one will ever change anything. I really like the book and I feel that if you want to learn about racism then you should read this book. That is why give it five stars
